Trip #8: Wekiva Springs SP FL

March 21 – 23, 2008 – 450 mi RT
WEKIVA SPRINGS STATE PARK – Apopka, FL

Very nice weather for a short 2-mile bike ride to the springs swimming hole. The next day did a kayak ride on the clear Wekiva, seeing gators, turtles and noisy people. Went up Rock Springs Run. Later visited a museum and driving back saw a wild turkey and fox squirrel.   450 mi RT

Why is it one of these always pops up when you're on the river?
Park Info: Located at the headwaters of the Wekiva River, the beautiful vistas within this park offer a glimpse of what Central Florida looked like when Timucuan Indians fished and hunted these lands. They left a number of mounds that are still visible today. The main spring pumps approximately 42 million gallons of water each day. Wekiwa Springs State Park opened to the public in 1970.

It doesn't get any clearer than this.

A happy (hour) camper
This is where the bikes go if anyone is wondering.
