Trip #4 Hillsb. River S.P.

May 25 - 27, 2007
HILLSBOROUGH RIVER STATE PARK –Tampa, FL

This park has fabulous biking trails and river for canoeing. Gators and all. Old oak trees, like, a thousand years old. Arrived Memorial Day weekend and somehow we hit unbelievable weather, nice and cool for the activities. Even the wild orchids were in bloom. Had our first guests visit for dinner and way too much hooch, Barb & Roo. Busted by the ranger for being loud at 11pm. Learned what the “quiet time” rule is.

Park Info: Opened in 1938, Hillsborough River State Park is one of Florida's first state parks; this original CCC Park is divided by the swiftly flowing Hillsborough River with a set of Class II rapids.

Such a beautiful, clear, clean river for canoeing...

... and then this pops up next to you: a BIG gator.
