Trip #7: Hillsb. River SP

January 18 – 20, 2008
HILLSBOROUGH RIVER STATE PARK – Tampa, FL

The Airstream Ranch, Plant City, FL
Back again. We like this park. River’s Edge Campground#49, with full forest behind us, good site. Super super humid and wet and foggy for some morning biking to Fort Foster. By the time we went from trail to trail along the river we did about 5 miles of BMX over roots, along edges, through the trees – good ride. Happiest resurrection ferns I’ve even seen. And then came the storm… This night our dinner was delivered by Grilli Catering which arrived about 6pm, after their horrific drive in the storm, yet they braved the elements bearing a complete meal of “camper cuisine” which had to be grilled under the awning in gale force winds. This night we all ate in the dog and played iPod Name that Tune. Storm didn’t stop until 11pm. No rum so no one fell. Ever see the Airstream Ranch in Plant City? It's a challenge to shoot out the window at 60 mph on I-4.

That beautiful Hillsborough River again.

From an RV show on the way home, the original Airstream owned by Fred Flintstone.
