Sheila is off to Florida to help out her folks so time for Billy to do some exploring. Headed to Escondida Lake campground where we have stayed before. It’s Saturday and the place is full of families. Drove to San Lorenzo Canyon, which was a neat little canyon with camping spots but a long drive in on a dirt road.
Rode the bike along the river trails, which is a lot of OHV roads. Still bare trees so not that pretty. On Sunday drove to the Box Canyon area, which is a short half-mile stroll. Lots of rock climbers. Then drove up to Water Canyon to check out campground. There is only one spot that would fit the trailer and it’s in the picnic area. Twisty, rough road to the CG. Drove on to Magdalena, which was dead since it was a Sunday. Stopped at the Capitol Brewery in Socorro for a sandwich and a beer. Mediocre. So all in all, this place is good for an overnight stop on the way home since it has full hookups and cheap. But somewhat depressed area with closed up businesses. Headed home on Monday.
