Trip #148 (79): Thanksgiving 2025: Mesilla, Portal, Tucson Gilbert Ray, (Dwtn Phx) Lake Pleasant, Homolovi (Winslow)

Wednesday, Nov 19 - 29, 2025

Wednesday, Nov. 19 - Mesilla, Hacienda RV and dinner at La Posta. Love this rut for Mesilla. No bikes this trip, and good thing, probably would have used them once if that.

Thursday, Nov. 20 - Toured the new Taylor Mesilla House, moved on to Portal, AZ. Beautiful yet cold as it had rained and was 80% humidity. Boondocking, so of course at in.

Friday - Portal cold and wet partly cloudy, drove a loop, Bill saw 3 mountain lions FIRST TIME EVER

Saturday - Added a day to Gilbert Ray for 4 nights here

Sunday - toured downtown Tucson's Train station museum and Old Tucson Courthouse

Monday -

Tuesday - Met Jeffers at Tohono Chul for brunch and Kibbie. Then on to Encantado Mall and then to Medicine Man Gallery, then Starbucks. Nice perfect weather, a few degrees warmer every day.

Wednesday - Drive in traffic from Tucson to Lake Pleasant (foot killing me), then back down to downtown PHX Jeffer's condo to stay the night. Kibbie and wilderness hamburgers. Our site at LP #139 in Desert Tortoise slanted precariously toward the lake, used every tool in the tool box to secure, including digging up the driveway for the post. It worked, whew

Thursday - TG dinner at Jeffers then more kibbie and another short walk, foot better but not right yet. Pretty warm in the sun! Maybe 75 today. Drove back to LP for the night. Stayed in and to bed early.

Friday - Took 25 minutes to undo the securing of the tires but off we went, stopping to visit BJ in Rimrock before Sedona. Had a 2 hour visit, amazed at the mature trees and greenness of his neighborhood, then on up to Flagstaff for one last In n Out -- busy busy -- then a black friday no sale stop at Dollar Tree for yarn and off we went again, just another hour to Winslow, Homolovi. Empty as usual but not as cold. #52
